Ellie Vice watches a home run

Hillsboro-Central Valley sophomore catcher Ellie Vice watches her home run cross the fence in the fourth inning of Tuesday’s game against Northern Cass.

RURAL HUNTER, N.D. – Sophomore Ellie Vice smashed her first career homer and teammate Noella Kritzberger struck out a career-high 13 to lead Hillsboro-Central Valley over Northern Cass 13-10  Tuesday.

Vice’s round-tripper in the fourth inning capped a strong offensive performance by the Burros, who improved to 3-5 on the season after starting 0-3.

Kritzberger, who has 40 strikeouts in her last four starts, won her third game of the spring with the victory.

“We gave Noella a lot of run support,” Burros head coach Cory Erickson said. “Carsi Hatlestad had a huge two-RBI hit, Sydney Hennings had a huge two-RBI hit and those hits jump-started our offense.

“We started to see the type of hitting team that we can be.”
