Hillsboro-Central Valley head coach Elliot Rotvold believed before the season started that once the Burros got a handful of games under their belts and a few players back from injury, they’d begin to roll.
That ball was rolling Tuesday night.
H-CV junior guard Parker Gallagher returned from injury and knocked down three triples in his first five minutes to lead the Burros over Richland 85-48 Tuesday.
He added another jumper to score 11 of the Burros’ first 19 points and forced Richland to burn a timeout early in the game when the Colts found themselves in a 15-point hole.
“(Parker has) been chomping at the bit to get going and he helped solidify things out there,” Rotvold said. “It was nice to have Jackson (Anderson) and Sam (Preston) on the wings and Parker can distribute and knock down those threes. Having him out there definitely helps.”
Gallagher was one of five Burros who scored in double digits in the runaway win to put the team over .500 for the first time this season.
The loss dropped Richland to 0-1.
H-CV got out to its lead by starting with a full-court press to begin the game.
