MAYVILLE – Locked in a 14-14 tie with 1:27 remaining in the half, MayPort-CG quarterback Landon Koenig took 70 seconds to march his team 42 yards to Hankinson’s 24-yard line.
MPCG junior wideout Jake Hutter did the rest.
Hutter hauled in a 10-yard pass and dove for the first-down marker to convert on a 4th-and-9.
Then the Patriots receiver snagged a 14-yard pass in the end zone with 11 seconds left to put the Patriots ahead 22-14 at the break, helping MPCG nail down a 30-20 win over the Pirates on Aug. 27.
“Jake’s catch in the end zone right before half was clutch for us,” said MPCG head coach Adam Sola.
