MayPort-CG senior Jake Hutter has signed a letter of intent to play college baseball for the Mayville State Comets.
“I am super excited to play for Mayville (State). The winning culture they have there is second to none,” Hutter said Wednesday night.
“Ever since I was a little kid going into the dugout with the team, I’ve seen myself playing for the Comets.”
MPCG head coach Alex Berry said the Comets signed a competitor in Hutter, even though the senior left-hander is recovering from a torn ACL he suffered playing football.
“I’m excited for Jake. He created his own opportunity and he’s going to be able to be a contributor for the Comets,” Berry said. “He put in a lot of hard work and it’s exciting to see him move on and play at the college level.”
Hutter was picked to the Region 2 all-region team last spring and helped Mayville-Portland’s American Legion team reach the state tournament in back-to-back years in 2021 and 2022.
