CASSELTON, N.D. – Tuesday may have been Hillsboro-Central Valley’s best cross-country showing of the season. 

The Burros boys and girls teams swept the competition in the varsity 5-kilometer runs at Cottonwood Golf Course in Casselton, N.D., earning a score of 24 points in the boys event and winning by nine in the girls race.

Burros sophomore Christian Brist took first in 17 minutes, 14 seconds to win the boys run Tuesday, 21 seconds ahead of second-place Tanner Lundwall of MayPort-CG.

H-CV freshman Myla Kaldor finished seventh in the girls race, which featured a breakthrough run by Burros eighth-grader Shaycee Johnson.

Johnson took 18th at the meet and was H-CV’s fifth-best runner in the event, crossing the line in 22:40.70.
