Payton Beliles pitches

Hillsboro-Central Valley right-hander Payton Beliles picked up the win on the mound in the Burros’ 12-2 run-shortened victory over Northern Cass in Enderlin, N.D.

Hillsboro-Central Valley went 1-2 during a two-day tournament April 23-24 in Enderlin, N.D., before falling 6-2 to Thompson on the road Tuesday.

Aaron Johnson and Cole Hebl mashed two over-the-fence home runs to lead the Burros over the Northern Cass Jaguars 12-2 on April 23 in Enderlin.

But the Burros followed that win with three consecutive losses to drop below .500 for the first time this season.

“We need to put better pressure on all teams and put guys on base,” H-CV head coach Nathan Walsh said. “I think consistency is something we need to keep progressing toward.”

Hebl, a sophomore first baseman, and Johnson, a junior third baseman, had big days at the plate against the Jags, who entered the April 23 matchup with a 3-1 record.
