Cole Hebl shifts against Alex Ibanez

Hillsboro-Central Valley junior running back Cole Hebl, left, shifts to avoid Grafton’s Alex Ibanez during a run in the Burros’ 35-0 win over the Spoilers Oct. 8 in Grafton.

GRAFTON, N.D. – Hillsboro-Central Valley checked off one of its season goals Oct. 8.

The No. 2-ranked Burros held Grafton to minus-14 rushing yards and secured the 11B Region 2 title with their 35-0 road victory last week.

“It wasn’t pretty but we got the win,” H-CV head coach Scott Olsen said afterward.

“We were coming off last week with a huge win and we talked about not letting down, and we were great on defense.”

H-CV scored all of its points on the ground as senior running back Jace Leshuk and junior quarterback Riley Olsen finished with two touchdowns apiece.

The Burros finished with 280 rushing yards, but it was an up-and-down game for their offense, which had two lost fumbles and one interception.
