Hillsboro-Central Valley’s baseball team opened the spring with season-opening statement wins over Grafton and Midkota the past week.
The Burros outscored their opponents 18-3 in their opening week of play and have been blistering hot at the plate, despite North Dakota’s chilly playing conditions.
“It was cold and sleeting, but it didn’t deter them,” said assistant coach Ben Strand, who filled in for head coach Nathan Walsh during H-CV’s first two games.
“When we were out there, nobody said that they were cold or that it was crappy. They wanted to play.”
Junior Aaron Johnson led the Burros to an 8-3 season-opening victory in Grafton on April 8.
He tossed four scoreless innings and allowed just one hit while racking up eight strikeouts.
