MAYVILLE – The MayPort-CG girls relay teams continued their early dominance Saturday.
In addition to placing in the top five in 16 events at their second home meet of the season, the Patriots saw their girls 4x100-meter relay team qualify for the state Class B track and field meet in Bismarck.
“We don’t have too many kids out (for our team), but they’re concentrated on the goals they’ve set for cutting their times,” MPCG head coach Wendy Garrett-Mehus said.
“They push each other and they’ve made progress, but they also have a lot more they want to make and that’s exciting to see.”
Sophomores Brooklyn Groth and Kate Bradner, senior Nora Peterson and freshman Rylee Satrom inched under the state-qualifying mark of 52.84 seconds in the 4x100, turning in a 52.49 to win Saturday’s race by more than five seconds over second-place Pembina County North.
