Rural BUXTON – Katie Kolness’s crew picked up a crucial win at home Tuesday.

The Hillsboro-Central Valley volleyball team swept Larimore 25-13, 25-7, 25-11 at Central Valley School to improve to 9-9 on the season and 8-6 in Region 2 points.

With three region games remaining, Tuesday’s victory put the Burros in prime position to finish no lower than sixth in the standings entering the Region 2 tournament Nov. 5.

“Just getting in our groove, right now – that’s our main focus,” Kolness said following Tuesday’s win. “The girls are coming together and gelling together as a team, because this is the point that we need to do that.”

Junior middle hitters Krista Ackerman and Sydni Culp tallied eight kills apiece to lead the Burros’ offense.
