MAYVILLE – Jack Bradner rattled off 11 straight points and Gavin Mewes returned from injury with a vengeance to lead MayPort-CG to a 65-44 win over Larimore on Tuesday.
Bradner, MPCG’s 6-5 senior forward, sank back-to-back 3-pointers to end the first half and Mewes poured in a team-high 18 points after missing a week and a half with a sprained ankle.
Those contributions – combined with a 10 points from senior Logan Vaagene – helped spark a 17-0 run in the third quarter that turned a 39-38 game into a late 21-point blowout win for the Patriots.
“We played a good second half and our press finally got to them,” said MPCG head coach Taylor Kunkel. “We were hustling and getting loose balls and we figured out a way to win.”
The outcome of Tuesday’s Region 2 contest remained up in the air in the early going, however.
