Parker Gallagher catches a touchdown

Hillsboro-Central Valley wide receiver Parker Gallagher pulls in a second-quarter touchdown pass from quarterback Riley Olsen in Saturday’s 28-6 win over Central Cass.

There was nothing spooky about Hillsboro-Central Valley’s 28-6 win over Central Cass on Halloween eve.

The No. 1-seeded Burros held the Squirrels to 28 points below their season average and outgained them 216-61 on the ground to advance to the 11B semifinals.

“We were thinking about that all season,” H-CV senior outside linebacker Jack Paulsrud said about the Burros’ season-opening 31-12 loss to Central Cass.

“It was the only blemish on our record and we really wanted a chance to avenge that loss and show we’re better than that.”

It was a nightmare start for H-CV, however, after starting senior center Masyn Fandrich left with an injury six plays into the game. Two plays later, senior running back Jace Leshuk fumbled near midfield.
