MPCG senior Logan Vaagene pushes the ball up the court against Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page on Tuesday night.

MAYVILLE – A fourth-quarter shooting slump put a damper on MayPort-CG’s senior night.

The Patriots stayed within striking distance throughout but recorded two points in the final period and lost 46-37 to Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page in a Region 2 clash Tuesday.

MPCG sent the Spartans to the charity stripe early and often – Chelsey Beaton’s team went 15-of-25 from the line – but Patriots head coach Taylor Kunkel didn’t blame the refs after Tuesday’s loss.

Kunkel said his club needed to do a better job shuffling its feet and getting in position on defense.

“I’m never going to knock the refs,” Kunkel said afterward. “We didn’t move our feet tonight and we made some bad decisions with the basketball.”
