Hillsboro-Central Valley’s volleyball team secured at least the No. 6 seed entering next week’s Region 2 tournament after a 25-14, 25-16, 25-22 sweep over Midway-Minto Tuesday in Minto, N.D.

The Burros used 12 kills from junior Sydni Culp and 22 digs from sophomore setter Molly Smelden in the Region 2 win, which improved H-CV’s record to 10-9 with two games remaining in the regular season.

The Mustangs, currently seeded ninth in Region 2, fell to 4-15 on the season.

“The girls came out so strong,” H-CV head coach Katie Kolness said. “We did what we were expected to do.”

Burros junior Krista Ackerman chipped in seven kills on the night. 

Mustangs seniors Elizabeth Nice and Cassie Severson each finished with five kills.
