Four Hillsboro-Central Valley and MayPort-CG athletes signed national letters of intent this month.
H-CV seniors Cole Hebl and Paige Bishop, MPCG senior Landon Koenig and Finley-Sharon senior Xyler Carlson, who played football for MPCG this fall, plan to take their athletic talents to college following high school graduation.
Here’s a breakdown of where each of the four high school standouts will be enrolled in the fall.
Cole Hebl was labeled one of the best hitters in the area by his new college coach, Steve Gust.
Hebl signed Friday, Nov. 11 with the University of Minnesota Crookston baseball squad and looks forward to playing at the next level.
“I really like the coaches and I feel like I will have the most opportunities at Crookston,” Hebl said. “It’s an awesome, smaller campus and when I went on a visit I felt like it was a super good fit.”
Hebl is a two-time all-state performer in baseball and hit an impressive .514 for H-CV last season.
Gust said with some development, Hebl has the potential to make an immediate impact for the Golden Eagles.
Hebl said the biggest improvement he made in his game last year was his mentality at the plate.
