Sawyer Satrom attacks

MayPort Area Ice Dawgs senior Sawyer Satrom attacks the Fargo Davies defense in a game earlier this season. Satrom and Ice Dawgs took on Fargo South/Shanley in Mayville Wednesday.

WEST FARGO – The MayPort Area Ice Dawgs dominated puck possession Monday night, but a pivotal turnover in the first period and a stretch of miscues minutes later ultimately cost them in a 3-0 shutout loss at the hands of West Fargo Sheyenne.

“Tonight we put together a full 51 minutes and (goalie) Trevin (Applegren) was the backbone of our team,” MayPort Area head coach Chase Knudson said. “I don’t think we were getting the bounces that we wanted tonight. We would skate to open ice to make a play at the net and it just wasn’t working.”

Sophomore forward Noah Mehus and junior defender Aaron Johnson registered the Ice Dawgs’ first two shots of the game after MayPort Area used nifty puck handling and extended zone time to create quality chances right from puck drop.
