Danica Hanson spikes

MayPort-CG sophomore Danica Hanson, right, had three kills and six digs in MPCG’s straight-set road win Tuesday over Enderlin.

ENDERLIN, N.D. – MayPort-CG and head coach Stacy Hanson stayed close throughout but dropped their first two matches of the season to No. 4 Northern Cass and No. 7 Central Cass.

The Patriots finally faced an unranked opponent this week and didn’t waste the opportunity to pick up their first win.

MPCG traveled to Enderlin and clobbered the Eagles in straight sets (25-7, 25-8, 25-16) in a match where the Patriots never trailed.

“After a long bus ride there, it was nice that the girls came out and played a solid game,” Hanson said Wednesday. “We served well. It was a good night for the girls.”

The Patriots looked sharp in the early going, racing out to a 12-point cushion in the first set in Enderlin.

Senior Kalynn Olson opened the set with back-to-back aces and sophomore Maysa Larson kept the hot streak going with another pair that extended MPCG’s lead to 13-1.
