Gannon Limke, Jacob Brandt and Karter Peterson

Hillsboro-Central Valley senior Gannon Limke, left, and sophomore Jacob Brandt battle with Thompson freshman Karter Peterson for a rebound late in a game Jan. 6 at the Hillsboro Events Center.

Gannon Limke wasn’t going to let anything stop him Tuesday night. Not even a polar bear.

The 6-foot-6 senior forward scored 16 points in the second quarter against Larimore and finished with a game-high 25 points in Hillsboro-Central Valley’s 71-25 win over the Polar Bears.

“He just kind of took over on the offensive end,” H-CV head coach Elliot Rotvold said Wednesday. “And he has to do that a little more sometimes when we need him to.

“We talked to him about getting himself in a better position to get some of those offensive rebounds and some of those easy points, and get to the free-throw line more. He did a better job of that Tuesday night.”

The No. 7-ranked Burros jumped out to an early 14-3 lead thanks to scores by six different H-CV players, but Larimore made it a one-score game (14-13) with 7:01 to play in the second quarter.
