Hillsboro-Central Valley’s boys golf team fell short in a bid to reach next week’s state tournament.
The Burros shot a 343, 22 strokes behind third-place MayPort-CG, in the Region 2 tournament May 21 in Carrington, N.D.
Senior Sam Preston, who previously qualified individually for the state meet, led H-CV with a 7-over 79.
Burros golf coach Ryan Nielsen said Preston is having a strong second half of the season.
“He’s peaking at the right time,” Nielsen said. “He’s got a lot of confidence in his game right now.”
