HILLSBORO – Parker Gallagher knew he had to make adjustments at halftime.
“I struggled in the first half,” Gallagher said after Hillsboro-Central Valley’s Oct. 1 game against Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich.
“I had been keying on (L-E-M’s passing attack) and just needed to focus up. I knew that they wanted to throw it and I was just there to make a play.”
Gallagher finished with two interceptions in the Burros’ 28-13 thriller victory over the Cardinals on Senior Night. H-CV’s win snapped L-E-M’s 44-game win streak and handed the Cardinals their first loss since the 2017 Class A title game.
“It’s poetic,” Gallagher added about snapping the Cardinals’ incredible winning streak. “We were the last ones to beat them (in 2017).”
While Gallagher’s two second-half interceptions were huge, there was none bigger than Peter Dryburgh’s lone interception to start the third quarter.
