MOORHEAD, Minn. – A bump in the start time at the Cobber Indoor meet didn’t slow down Hillsboro-Central Valley’s track and field teams Saturday.
Head coach Kirk Zink said Wednesday he wasn’t sure if his teams would make it to their 2023 season opener because of the weather.
Luckily, Interstate 29 reopened just in time for the Burros to make it to the meet inside Olson Forum on Concordia College’s campus in Moorhead.
“There’s probably a handful of teams that are kicking themselves that they didn’t go on Saturday,” Zink said.
“It turned out to be the right-sized meet – the right number of teams and the right level of competition.”
The boys took first with 279 points despite not having a few of their top athletes in senior Micah Gallagher and junior Christian Brist.
Shanley finished second with 238 points and Wahpeton, Oak Grove and Northern Cass rounded out the top five in the six-team meet.
