FARGO – After posting a 10-spotter to open their season, the MayPort Area Ice Dawgs were on the opposite side of a 12-0 shutout Saturday against the No. 3-ranked Fargo Davies Eagles.

The Ice Dawgs started the game with successful clearing attempts from multiple defenders and got a few forechecks in a couple different looks offensively, but quickly got turned around by the Eagles’ speed and aggressiveness.

“I knew they were going to be a really fast team. They were going to be competitive (and) they weren’t going to give us a lot of time and space out there on the ice,” MayPort Area head coach Chase Knudson said.

“I thought our effort was good for the first five minutes, but we let in a soft goal there and it knocked the wind out of us and then they took control.”

Fargo Davies slowly began forcing turnovers that the team turned into extended zone time.
