An early start to spring is just what Hillsboro-Central Valley head coach Garth Limke and his girls golf team needed.
With six girls on the roster, only one returns with significant time at the varsity level.
Senior Sydney Owens is a two-time state qualifier who could compete for a top-10 finish at the state meet in June, according to her coach.
“She’s been right there,” Limke said. “Two years ago (at the state meet), her first day didn’t go too well, but the second day she was right there with the best of them.”
Owens finished 16th in 2019 with a two-day score of 175. However, she shot an 82 on the second day of the meet, good for sixth over that 18-hole stretch.
