Megan Ensign shoots against Decontee Smith

Hillsboro-Central Valley sophomore Megan Ensign looks to shoot over the defense of Central Cass senior Decontee Smith in Tuesday’s 93-22 loss to the Squirrels at the Hillsboro Events Center.

Back at home for the first time since Dec. 9, Hillsboro-Central Valley dropped a non-region contest to No. 10-ranked Central Cass on Tuesday.

Three Burros players combined for 18 points and the Region 2 team fell 93-22 at the Hillsboro Events Center.

“The girls didn’t give up,” H-CV head coach Hayleigh Lautt said Wednesday.

“We adjusted throughout the game and I thought defensively, we made some adjustments in that second half.”

Sophomore Megan Ensign finished with eight points and made some key shots in the opening quarter. Sophomore teammate Sadie Gallagher and freshman KC Hong added five points each.

The Squirrels jumped out to an 18-2 lead over the first 3:22 of the contest before Ensign knocked down a right-corner three.
