MAYVILLE – MayPort-CG head softball coach Tim Spurgeon has high hopes for the Patriots this spring, even though his starting lineup doesn’t have a wealth of varsity experience.
After a two-year layoff due to the global pandemic, MPCG will trot out nine new starters when the team debuts Tuesday at home against Larimore.
“We lost nine seniors, so we’re going to have to evaluate our roster and see how things pan out as the season goes along,” Spurgeon said Tuesday.
Even though the roster has been revamped, the squad doesn’t lack for talent, according to its coach.
A handful of players were part of MayPort-CG’s state 14B title team last summer.
