Cole Hebl sprints to third base

Hillsboro-Reynolds’ Cole Hebl sprints around third base in a 12-4 Blue Sox win over Mayville July 8. Hebl hit a grand slam against Hatton-Northwood on Tuesday in Hatton but the Blue Sox fell 10-8 in the District 6 matchup.

HATTON – The Blue Sox had their fans on the edges of their seats Tuesday night in Hatton.

But an attempted late rally by the Hillsboro-Reynolds American Legion team came up a bit short in the seventh inning as the Blue Sox fell to Hatton-Northwood 10-8.

“It was a good fight out of the guys,” said Blue Sox head coach Nathan Walsh.

The Honey Badgers came out strong in the District 6 matchup against Walsh’s club, scoring first after an early triple and a costly error put two runners in scoring position.

Hatton-Northwood capitalized on the opportunity and went ahead 2-0 on back-to-back RBI singles by Derek Carpenter and Austin Rygg.
