MayPort-CG freshman wrestler Josiah Campbell took sixth at 152 pounds Saturday in Grafton.

GRAFTON, N.D. – MayPort-CG’s first taste of Region 2 wrestling competition came Saturday in Grafton.

Patriots sophomore Bryce Moch took fourth at 152 pounds and seventh-grader Maddix Moch was fourth at 113 pounds, while seventh-grader Logan Nielson took fifth for MPCG at 106.

Bryce Moch went 2-2 in the tournament, falling twice to Hillsboro-Central Valley’s Brayden Chenault but winning by pin over Grafton’s Robert Rodriguez and Mahnomen-Waubuen (Minn.) wrestler Thomas Azure.

Maddix Moch also finished 2-2 with two pins but lost to H-CV’s Carson Kozojed by pin in the third-place match.

Nielson lost to Hillsboro-Central Valley eighth-grader Justin Torroll in the quarterfinals but responded with his own pin over Fertile-Beltrami (Minn.) wrestler Hunter Doyea.

After losing to Drew Urbach of Central Cass, Nielson pinned Lisbon’s Ryan Olson in 2:34 for fifth.

At 145 pounds, Patriots sophomore Jerrett Kihne fell in the first round but bounced back with wins over Gabriel Martinez of Pembina County North and Caden Graber of Central Cass.

MPCG freshman 152-pounder Josiah Campbell finished sixth, going 1-3 with a win over Coleson Stahl of Central Cass.

Sophomore Joseph Clagg went 1-2 with a pin over David O’Conner from Pembina County North at 145 pounds.

In the 138-pound division, sophomore Jaylen Harstad went 2-3 as part of a round-robin competition.

Patriots sophomore Brooks Braun was 1-2, while freshmen Daniel Lozano and Joshua Kvernen were 0-2 at 106 and 195 pounds, respectively.
