Danica Hanson celebrates

MayPort-CG sophomore Danica Hanson, center, and the Patriots swept Hatton-Northwood and Grafton in straight sets.

MayPort-CG head coach Stacy Hanson knew her team had two big tests coming up with back-to-back showdowns looming against Hatton-Northwood and Grafton the past week.

The way the Patriots swept the Thunder on Oct. 14 and the Spoilers four days later, one might think Hanson’s club had swiped the teacher’s answer key.

MPCG rolled over Hatton-Northwood (25-15, 25-13, 25-15) in Hatton last week and followed that dominating performance with a rout of Grafton (25-16, 25-14, 26-24) Monday.

“Our game (against Hatton-Northwood) was probably our most complete game of the year,” Hanson said. “The girls were excited to play and played with intensity. It was fun.”

Rylee Satrom led the way for MPCG. The sophomore lefty had a team-high 12 kills and 3.5 blocks along with 10 digs against the Thunder.
