Carsi Hatlestad looks to pass

Hillsboro-Central Valley freshman forward Carsi Hatlestad looks to pass against Larimore in a 55-23 loss to the Polar Bears Dec. 17 at the Hillsboro Events Center.

Hillsboro-Central Valley was missing two key contributors to its lineup Dec. 17 and fell to Larimore 55-23.

Senior Stella Benson injured her ankle against Cavalier on Dec. 16 and was ruled out Friday while junior Madi Olsen sat out with an illness.

So H-CV (1-6) head coach Hayleigh Lautt had to dig deep into her bench and found sophomore forward Tessa Johnson.

“We really had to stop (Larimore’s) main scorers, so I thought (Johnson) did a really good job of coming off the bench,” Lautt said Monday.

“We could only use her for two quarters, so next time we are going to use her more because I thought her defense was a lot better today.”

Coming into the game against Larimore (1-6), H-CV had given up 61.9 points per game, so Lautt was happy with her team’s ability to hold the Polar Bears to under 60 points.
