Ethan Bergstrom stiff arms

MayPort-CG junior running back Ethan Bergstrom, right, stiff arms a Griggs-Midkota defender attempting to bring down the Patriots ball carrier on Sept. 10 in Cooperstown, N.D. Bergstrom and the Patriots beat the Titans 44-12.

There’s no telling how many calendars Adam Sola and his assistants own.

But I’m pretty certain about one thing.

MayPort-CG’s head coach and his assistants have tonight’s home-coming football game against Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page circled on all of them.

And, really, why wouldn’t they?

The Patriots opened their season in the newly minted Class B 9-man division with four impressive wins, piling up victories over Richland (36-0), Hankinson (30-20) and Tri-State (60-18) in a trio of nonconference games.

MPCG kicked off region play by hammering Griggs-Midkota 44-12 in similar fashion a week ago.

But tonight’s game pitting the Patriots against the visiting Spartans will be a gut check for MPCG, which hasn’t been challenged through four full quarters in any of its games this season.
