LAMOURE, N.D. – MayPort-CG head coach Adam Sola and the Patriots entered Saturday’s playoff matchup with LaMoure/Litchville-Marion intent on slowing down big-play receivers Charlie Bowman and Colton Ness.
MPCG (8-2) limited the Loboes’ top wideouts to four catches and 46 yards through the air but couldn’t slow the ground attack of the state’s top-ranked 9-man team led by junior Brady Lettenmaier.
Lettenmaier carried the ball 25 times for 185 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Loboes to a 42-0 win over the Patriots and advance his team to the Class 9B quarterfinals.
The Patriots had their chances early against the Loboes but a pair of costly interceptions deep in LaMoure/Litchville-Marion territory stalled MPCG’s momentum in the first half.
“They’re a really good team, probably a state title team,” Sola said after the loss, which ended MPCG’s season.
“We started off pretty well but we ended up throwing those two picks on their end. Those turnovers hurt, especially against a good team.”
