Riley Olsen break through

Hillsboro-Central Valley junior quarterback Riley Olsen (10) breaks through the Minot Bishop Ryan defensive line on a rushing attempt during Saturday’s 49-12 win over the Lions.

Parker Gallagher is one of Hillsboro-Central Valley’s 22 seniors that played their final home game on Saturday.

A high school football memory that sticks out to Parker is kicking with his older brother, Micah, a few seasons ago.

“Having him on the field with me, it was sort of an incredible moment,” Parker said.

Parker added that Micah sometimes calls or texts him before games and gives him some words of advice or encouragement.

But no call or text came before the Burros’ 11B semifinals game against Bishop Ryan (10-2).

“(Micah) didn’t today,” Parker said. “I think he thought we had it handled.”

The Burros (11-1) scored early and often in Saturday’s 49-12 win over Bishop Ryan and outgained the Lions 255-58 on the ground as they advanced to their fourth Dakota Bowl since 2017.
