Jan. 16 was our eighth legislative day.
We are getting into the routine of committee meetings in the morning, floor session at 1 p.m. and more committee meetings after that.
In education, we have a full slate of bills this week.
SB 2070 relates to teacher qualifications and individuals who are teaching a subject when a certified teacher cannot be found.
SB 2033 deals with teacher shortage loan forgiveness when teachers accept positions in critical need areas.
Last week in the Agriculture and Veterans Affairs committee, we heard testimony on SB 2134, which would place restrictions on where beehives could be located.
We will act on that this week. Coming up this week will be SB 2189 which relates to road closures and penalties.
SB 2204 concerns the veterans revolving loan fund and eligibility requirements.
SB 2036 is a 33-page bill that deals with drainage laws in North Dakota and covers several sections of Century Code. We will no doubt have a good discussion on this bill.
This is just a small portion of the bills we will hearing. Please contact me with your concerns.
