Back in the day, I wasn’t just the statistician for our football team, I was assistant to the head coach, a title Coach and I kept between us, for obvious reasons – I was still a senior in high school.

Coach thought I had graduated. Seem like you’ve been with me forever, he said at the start of the third game of the season. “Glad you’re still around. Now, how’s the game shaping up?”

We’ve got the ball on our 40-yard line, second down. Time to run a sweep, I said.

“What’s the score?”

Doesn’t matter, we need a first down, I told Coach. We’ve been running inside since the second half started, time to run wide right.
