Myron Gunderson

Myron (Mike) E. Gunderson, of Bismarck, N.D., passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 16, 2022.

Myron was born January 28, 1930. He was the second oldest of 11 children born to Hilda and Gustav Gunderson on their farm near Buxton, N.D. Myron married Donna (Haugen) in November of 1959.

Myron was a hardworking man who was known for his commitment to do things well and his kindness to others. Myron graduated from Wahpeton (N.D.) School of Science in 1956 with an Electrical Degree. He then went to work for Minnkota Power for five years. In 1963 he began working for Western Area Power in West Fargo, N.D., and then Williston, N.D., maintaining a substation.

He remained there for 10 years before transferring to Fort Peck where he supervised a crew of electricians for 3 years. In 1981, he transferred to Bismarck where he retired after 30 years of service.

Myron was also a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. A man who loved his family dearly.

Myron is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna; his son Scott Gunderson; his daughters Rebecca (Jim) Brevik-Maurer, Alessa (Kurt) Ganzemiller and Nancy (Benjamin) Deist; his grandchildren, Nicole (Derek) Fasano, Charles Gunderson, Taylor (Jessica) Brevik, Lee Maurer, Jordan Gunderson, Chase Gunderson, Alexander Ganzemiller, Kerstin Ganzemiller, Josiah Deist, and DJ Deist. Great Grandchildren include Parker, Hayden, Brady, and Beckett. Myron is also survived by Dennis (Lorna) Gunderson and Diane Kvitne; and three sisters-in-law, Lila Jean Gunderson, Valerie Gunderson, & Marilyn Gunderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as several siblings and in-laws. Helene (Lawrence) Brend, Gordon (Theoline) Gunderson, Oriville (Maryann) Gunderson, Mavis (Bill) Couchigan, Rodney Gunderson, Wallace Gunderson, Rosalie (Melfred) Lindstrom and Gayhart Gunderson.

The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4, at Faith Lutheran Church 1402 E Ave. C, Bismarck.
