Michael Corey Stenerson was called Home to Heaven on Jan. 5, 2021.
Mike was born on March 13, 1954 to Nola (Nordby) and Gunder Stenerson in Halstad, Minn. He was baptized on May 9, 1954 in the Halstad Lutheran Church and lived in Halstad until 1965 when they moved to Hillsboro, N.D.
Mike attended school in Hillsboro graduating in 1972 and then attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He attended Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro and was confirmed in June 1969.
After graduation Mike worked on a construction crew that was building power plants in Beulah, N.D.; in Hillsboro for Schipper Construction and TranSystems running payloaders which he truly enjoyed; in Mayville, N.D. for WinField and for Short and Sweet Farms.
On Oct. 15, 1980 Mike was blessed with a son, Joshua Michael.
Mike had a heart of gold and cared for others before himself. He loved to give and had the kindest heart. He loved to ride chopper, spend time with his family and friends and his dogs, Smokey, Lacy and Astro, who were like children to him.
Mike we love you and you will be so very missed by all who were blessed to know you.
Mike is survived by his partner Jackie Merrigan and her son Chris Merrigan, his mother Nola Stenerson, brothers Jim (Tracy) Stenerson and Steve (Stacy) Stenerson; sister Cindy (Tom) Kritzberger, nephews Chris (Sunny) Stenerson, Ryan (Steph) Kritzberger, Kade Stenerson and Josh Seerup and nieces Tammy (Kyle) Von Feldt, April (Garrett) Sunram, Mataya and Ari Stenerson and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents Cora (Kjesbo) and Peter Stenerson and Otto, Una and Julie Nordby; his father Gunder Stenerson; his son Joshua Michael; his brother Randy Stenerson; and his nieces Amy Kritzberger and Jessica Stenerson.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, with a visitation one hour prior. Masks and social distancing were required. The service was livestreamed on the funeral home website.
