Preregistrations for the Hillsboro Days 5-kilometer fun run coming up Thursday, June 17 have lagged behind organizers’ expectations.
However, Hillsboro Running Club president-elect Dera Johnson said race organizers are hoping for a last-minute recruiting push to bolster this year’s turnout.
“We’re a little low (on registrations), which surprises us a bit,” Johnson said Tuesday.
“We thought with the past year and COVID that people would be more anxious to get out and run.”
Through 2 p.m. Tuesday, 143 people had signed up to take part in this year’s 5K in Woodland Park.
Participants who haven’t signed up online for the race but still want to join will be able to register for Thursday’s fun run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hillsboro Sports Complex.
