Hillsboro city commissioners on Monday considered how to simplify some official city processes, which may have grown more complicated after a recent wholesale ordinance revamp.
City Commissioner Levi Reese, who led Monday’s meeting in the absence of President Terry Sando, pointed out that the city’s use of a state application for liquor licenses has appeared to create delays and complications for Sando’s microbrewery under construction downtown.
City Auditor Ashley Frederick reported that she spoke with the North Dakota Attorney General’s office about the holdup.
“They told me that it’s up to the (city) commission if health and fire inspections must be completed,” she said. The auditor noted that the same inspections are part of the state process.
