Larry Mueller’s dream of expansion at Hillsboro Regional Airport has taken off over the past decade.
After a $7 million runway renovation in 2018 and a $2 million taxiway expansion this year, construction is nearing completion of an additional 10 hangars on the west end of the airport.
With all hangars currently rented out, the number of aircraft housed at the facility will increase to nearly 40 with space for more on the horizon.
“That’s a pretty big deal,” said Mueller, president of the Hillsboro Municipal Airport Authority.
“We’re just ripe for another business to move out here now.”
Mueller said the latest wave of expansion at the facility is easily its most ambitious to date.
