Growing up, Christmas was the one holiday where Levi Reese’s family gathered together.

This year, Reese is hoping the Christmas lights in his yard will spread that same joy to others.

The Hillsboro city commissioner and local vo-ag teacher has more than 40 links of lights choreographed to music outside his home at 701 1st Ave. N.E.

“It’s probably my favorite holiday,” Reese said. “My grandma had her birthday on Christmas Day so it was always kind of a special time.

“We’d always get together,” he said. “Sometimes we’d have 50, 60 people at Christmas.”

Reese is new to elaborate light displays, although he says it’s something he’s always wanted to do.
