A Grand Forks contractor has expressed interest in purchasing and renovating a one-story brick building that’s been vacant for decades along Broadway in Buxton.

Dennis Riedhammer of Riedhammer Masonry asked the Buxton City Council on Wednesday about obtaining a demo and restoration permit in the event that he buys the former hardware store building, directly north of the Buxton Senior Center at 315 Broadway, from its owner David Knudsvig.

Riedhammer said his company has been working to restore and preserve old buildings in Grand Forks and neighboring communities like Buxton.

“We want to keep those downtown buildings part of our town in Grand Forks and likewise in other towns. You want to see them saved,” he told the council.
