Mike Monette began dabbling in barbecue sauces more than 15 years ago.
Then an employee at Pro-Tec Powder Coating in Grand Forks, he and a coworker shared a smoker and began trying out different flavors and grilling methods.
Soon, his buddies at work became willing guinea pigs as Monette developed a following for the sauces he was making.
“It got to the point where we asked, ‘Why am I buying barbecue sauce when I can just make my own?’” the Reynolds man said Friday, Oct. 1. “People liked it, and here we are.”
Now, Monette and his wife, Dawn, have brought their culinary skills to the Beehive in Reynolds.
