Reid Brady presided over his first case in the Traill County Courthouse Wednesday as an East Central District Court judge.
The 47-year-old Fargo native and former assistant in the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office was elected in November and started work as one of nine East Central District Court judges this month.
Brady had been presiding over other cases in neighboring counties since Jan. 4 but Wednesday marked his first day in a courtroom in Hillsboro and Traill County.
“I had encouragement from friends and colleagues and I thought this could be a potentially rewarding position and to be on the purely neutral side of it,” Brady said. “I wanted that new perspective rather than to continue” as a prosecutor.
