Looking forward to a virus-free life

The coronavirus pandemic that has swept across the globe hasn’t been around forever.

In fact, today marks the one-year anniversary of the World Health Organization declaring the COVID-19 outbreak a global health emergency.

And, for every beginning, there must be an end.

The virus still dominates newspaper headlines throughout the country, but there will come a day when COVID-19 appears more in history books than on nightly newscasts.

With hundreds of vaccines set to arrive in Hillsboro and Mayville next week, people in Traill County are anxiously awaiting the return of pre-COVID life, free from mask mandates and travel restrictions and worries over spreading the coronavirus to their loved ones.

The Banner reached out to nearly a dozen people in Hillsboro on Tuesday attempting to learn what they’re most looking forward to in a post-pandemic world.
