Members of the Hillsboro Business Association wrapped up their final planning meeting this week prior to the start of Hillsboro Days, which kicks off Wednesday and runs through Sunday.
HBA members met Wednesday at the Hillsboro Cafe and spent most of their strategy session hammering out details such as lining up ticket-takers for the Hillsboro Days street dance and firming up which downtown streets will be closed next weekend.
Randy Habeck, who owns Hillsboro Drug, told fellow merchants that 16 teams have signed up to take part in the downtown bean bag tournament sponsored by the Vets Club on Saturday, June 19.
Sixteen slots remain available for participants and entrance fees are $20 per person, Habeck said.
This year’s tournament will feature a round-robin format split into three brackets, which will allow the Vets Club to hand out more prize money to winners, he said.
