When Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Pastor Joe Johnson asked his congregation for needs in Hillsboro, he got a resounding answer: People wanted a place for food and fellowship on Sundays.
In the wake of the recent closure of the Hillsboro Cafe, Johnson and his family and friends are looking to bring that back to Hillsboro.
Johnson’s wife, Amanda, will be opening the Hillsboro Cafe building to the community from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays Nov. 7 through Dec. 19.
Starting this week, the Johnsons will offer dine-in service or to-go meals for anyone as a service called Community Cafe.
“Every month we have a program staff meeting and ask, ‘What do people need?’” Joe Johnson said Wednesday. “This month, the answer was clear.”
