Three candidates have tossed their hats in the ring to run for an opening on the Hillsboro City Commission.
Kate Ehnert, Craig Moen and Paul Geray filed election paperwork prior to Monday’s 4 p.m. deadline and will appear on ballots in a special city election Tuesday, Nov. 16.
The winner of the contested race will serve the remainder of the unexpired term of former City Commissioner Shawn Skager, who resigned July 9 after moving to the Bismarck-Mandan area.
Skager was elected to the city commission in 2020 and his unexpired term runs through June 2024.
Ehnert, owner of The Hillsboro Cafe, and Moen, a Hillsboro agronomist, announced in July that they intended to run for the vacant seat on the city commission.
