The Woodland Park pool, built in the mid-1950s, has started losing water in recent years. City officials agreed to spend up to $50,000 to repair the pool in 2021.

The city-run pool in Hillsboro’s Woodland Park could open to the public within the next two weeks – and prior to the Hillsboro Days celebration.

City Commissioner Levi Reese said Wednesday that crews have removed the cracked liner from the municipal pool and sandblasted its interior to prep the pool for its summer debut.

Once workers under the direction of local contractor Jack Moore can apply sealant, the pool should be ready to be filled with water, a process that could take a day or two, Reese said.

“My best guess, at this point, is that we’re open in a week and a half or two weeks,” he said. “But we’re hoping to be open by Hillsboro Days for sure.”

The Woodland Park pool has opened one to two weeks prior to the Hillsboro Days celebration, which traditionally has been held the third week in June, the past few years.
