Members of the Hillsboro Business Association on Wednesday mapped out plans for their trick-or-treating event in October and discussed a major shakeup to HBA’s popular Christmas carnival.
HBA members debated when to schedule downtown trick-or-treating, which traditionally has been held on a weekday after the end of the school day in Hillsboro.
Halloween falls on Sunday this year and the Hillsboro School District won’t have classes on Friday, Oct. 29, which left HBA members to figure out when to sponsor their candy giveaway.
Holding the event Thursday, Oct. 28 would be difficult since parent-teacher conferences are scheduled that day and Wednesday, Oct. 27 would conflict with after-school church classes, members agreed.
After a brief discussion, the group decided to sponsor downtown trick-or-treating from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29.
