District 20 state Sen. Randy Lemm (R-Hillsboro) tucked away his yard signs and campaign posters after beating his Democratic challenger in last November’s election race.

But Lemm and his District 20 Republican running mates – Rep. Mike Beltz (R-Hillsboro) and Jared Hagert (R-Emerado) – could be back on the campaign trail trying to retain their seats next year.

A 16-member Redistricting Committee set up by the Legislature has been reviewing proposed draft maps the past month to reapportion the state’s 47 legislative districts.

Fast-growing areas in western North Dakota and urban centers with larger populations could see increased representation at the state Capitol once the committee finishes its work and state lawmakers finalize a new map during a special session in November.
